GameplayGears of War: E-Day brings back the tactical cover-based shooting that defines the series while expanding movement and combat options. Players move between cover, flank enemy positions and use vertical spaces to gain an advantage while fighting aggressive Locust forces at both short and long range.

The campaign can be played solo or cooperatively, while multiplayer expands the experience with PvE and PvP modes. Horde Siege evolves the classic wave-survival formula into larger battles involving multiple squads, objectives and powerful enemies. Versus focuses on competitive 4v4 action, with Social and Ranked playlists designed for different levels of competition.

StoryThe story takes place fourteen years before the events of the original Gears of War. Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago are caught in the chaos of Emergence Day, when the Locust Horde suddenly erupts from beneath the planet Sera and launches a devastating assault on humanity.

Rather than continuing the timeline of later Gears titles, E-Day explores an earlier chapter in Marcus and Dom's lives. Their struggle to survive the first days of the invasion provides an origin story for two of the series' central characters while showing the Locust as a new and terrifying enemy.

GraphicsGears of War: E-Day is built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. The new technology supports highly detailed environments, atmospheric lighting and more grounded representations of characters and enemies, reinforcing the game's darker science-fiction and horror-inspired tone.

The visual design combines ruined urban environments, industrial military technology and grotesque underground creatures. The game is built to support 4K resolution and up to 60 FPS across Campaign and Multiplayer on compatible hardware and displays.
