Opis
: "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge"The story is set during the American Civil War and follows Peyton Farquhar, a Southern planter who is about to be executed by hanging from a railroad bridge by Union soldiers. As he is dropped from the bridge, the rope breaks, and he plunges into the river below. Farquhar manages to free himself and swim to safety, all while dodging bullets and cannon fire. Exhausted but elated, he makes his way back to his plantation and toward his wife. Just as he is about to embrace her, he feels a sharp pain in his neck and a blinding white light. It is then revealed that the entire escape sequence was a hallucination occurring in the moments before his death; Farquhar never escaped, and he dies hanging from the bridge.
